One of Australia’s newest IEP Fellows says her long careers has shown how the Employability sector has the power to change lives for the better.

Florensia Walker FIEP has become a member of our Fellowship program, connecting likeminded professionals around the country who are committed to upskilling the sector and promoting collaboration between Employment Services providers.

Flo arrived in Australia from Indonesia in 2001 and has since worked in Employment Services, government and community engagement.

Her experience includes extensive work in Disability Employment Services, where she supported people with disability and long-term unemployed jobseekers, as well as initiatives across regional Queensland designed to connect communities and employers.

“Employment has always been, for me, about more than just economic participation,” she says.

“It is about restoring dignity, building confidence, and opening doors to opportunities that transform lives.

“My own journey of migrating from Indonesia to Australia in 2001 taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and inclusion — values that I now carry into my work every day.”

Drawing on her own lived experience as a migrant, Flo is passionate about diversity and inclusion and is committed to ensuring culturally and linguistically diverse communities are supported to access opportunities and thrive.

She has also contributed to regional programs that bring together business, government, and community sectors to strengthen participation and build pathways that benefit both individuals and local economies.

“Becoming a Fellow means standing alongside colleagues who are equally committed to raising standards, sharing best practice, and driving innovation across the Employability sector,” she says.

“The IEP plays a vital role in guiding, informing, and supporting professionals, and I see Fellowship as both recognition of my contribution and a responsibility to mentor, collaborate, and continue learning.

“I am deeply honoured to be recognised as a Fellow of the Institute of Employability Professionals. Fellowship represents more than a professional milestone for me — it symbolises my commitment to the sector, my passion for empowering individuals, and my desire to give back to the profession that has shaped my career.”

We are thrilled to have Flo part of our growing community of employability professionals, and we look forward to learning more from her expertise.
