The IEP Australia team attended this month’s Disability Employment Australia Conference, catching up with old friends and making new connections with employability professionals from across the country.

Held from May 13-15 on the Gold Coast, attendees heard from a range of fantastic speakers, including the legendary Australian advocate for people with disabilities, Graham Innes.

“I was delighted by the positivity and the shared desire to work together for a better future for people with disability,” DEA CEO Peter Bacon FIEP said on LinkedIn after the event had closed.

“I sensed throughout the Conference that providers have a renewed commitment to collaborate to tackle shared problems and in service of shared purpose.”

It was exactly for those reasons that IEP was an event sponsor, and our team made the most of the opportunities to network and promote our mission of greater collaboration across the industry.

Among those in attendance was IEP’s global chief Scott Parkin FIEP, making the long voyage down under from the UK, along with IEP Australia’s partnership manager Matt Crossingham FIEP and IEP Australia board members including Jo Ingold FIEP and chairperson Andrew Hills FIEP.

Scott was able to present certificates in person to the leaders of the providers named as winners of our Professional Excellence Awards earlier this year.

And during his time in Australia, he also caught up with a range of IEP fellows and partners to discuss the challenges facing the sector, as well as the future under Australia’s re-elected Labor government.

Congratulations to Disability Employment Australia and everyone involved in putting on this fantastic event.
