The Institute of Employability Professionals Australia welcomes the Australian Government’s proposed reforms to the employment services system, aimed at improving access for all Australians to enter and participate in the labour market.
We strongly support the focus on a more personalised, responsive approach that recognises the diverse needs of individuals and their distance from the labour market. A system that prioritises meaningful, sustainable employment outcomes has the potential to better support participants, employers, and the broader economy.
At the heart of effective employment services is a skilled and capable workforce. These reforms reinforce the importance of investing in practitioners who can build trust, understand individual barriers, and provide tailored, coaching-based support to help people move toward work.
The IEP remains committed to supporting the sector through capability development, professional standards, quality improvement and a strong national practitioner network. We believe that strengthening the capability and consistency of the workforce will be critical to delivering on the intent of these reforms.
We look forward to engaging with government, partners, and stakeholders across the sector as these changes are designed and implemented. Together, we can continue to improve outcomes for jobseekers and ensure more Australians are supported into meaningful employment.
