A warm welcome to Christina Covill FIEP, General Manager of Employment Services at BUSY At Work, who has recently joined the IEP Fellowship in Australia!

Christina brings more than 23 years’ experience across frontline, senior executive and national leadership roles in employment, disability and workforce development. Her motivation has always been to help people overcome barriers, realise their potential and achieve meaningful employment.

“Over the past 23 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated professionals who share a commitment to helping people overcome barriers and realise their potential,” Christina said.

“Being recognised as an IEP Fellow is a significant honour that acknowledges not only my career journey, but also the collective impact we can have when we place people, opportunity and inclusion at the centre of everything we do.”

A career across employment, disability and workforce services

Christina has led major Australian Government employment programs, including Workforce Australia, Transition to Work, the Defence Assistance Program, Disability Employment Services and Skills Checkpoint for Older Workers.

She has been accountable for strategy, operational performance, financial sustainability, governance, quality, workforce capability and contractual compliance across geographically dispersed services.

Christina led national delivery of the Defence Assistance Program, creating meaningful employment opportunities for NDIS participants with intellectual disability across 10 Defence bases. She has also developed inclusive employment models that supported people with disability to build skills, gain work experience and transition into mainstream employment.

Throughout her career, she has built strong partnerships with government, employers, industry and community organisations to improve outcomes for people experiencing disadvantage or disability. She has championed practical innovation, evidence-informed decision-making and continuous improvement to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Recognising a collective impact

For Christina, the Fellowship is both a personal honour and a significant professional milestone. It gave her the opportunity to reflect on her career, and it reinforces her commitment to inclusive employment, strong governance, innovation and continuous improvement.

She also recognises that the achievement is not hers alone. Every achievement has been shaped by the dedicated colleagues, mentors, teams and partners she has worked alongside, and she acknowledges The BUSY Group and everyone who has contributed to her journey.

Contributing to the IEP Community

As an IEP Fellow, Christina looks forward to sharing practical insights from leading employment and disability services at local, regional and national levels. She hopes to support emerging leaders and employment services professionals through mentoring, knowledge sharing and professional conversations, and to contribute to discussions on effective leadership, inclusive employment, service innovation and sustainable performance.

Christina also intends to advocate for professional standards, evidence-informed practice, strong employer partnerships and people-centred service delivery, while continuing to learn, share her experience and support the next generation of employability professionals.

About the IEP Fellowship

Fellows of the IEP are a community of passionate and influential professionals from within the Employability sector. They work to share best practice across the sector, and to support the vision and mission of the IEP.

Fellows are usually expected to have been working in Employability or a related sector for at least seven years, to have participated in or supported activities across the sector, to be prepared to play a role in advancing the sector, and to be committed to Continued Professional Development. Candidates undergo a professional development interview, which is vital to the professional standing of the IEP.
