Register for the Cert IV in Employment Services
The employment services sector is always moving. New contracts, evolving participant cohorts, rapid advances in technology, and changing expectations from government and employers. The work is complex, and it is only getting more so. For professionals who are serious about what they do, keeping up with that change is no longer optional but a necessary part of the job.
That is why IEP Australia and Asuria deliver the nationally recognised CHC41115 Certificate IV in Employment Services. Built by Aussie employability professionals for Aussie employability professionals, following an extensive year-long consultation with frontline staff, mentors, employment consultants, team leaders and program leaders.
The result is a program that reflects the realities of working in Workforce Australia, Inclusive Employment Australia, Transition to Work, Parent Pathways and more. Every unit, every elective, every learning activity has been shaped by people who understand what this work involves.
With increasing demand for frontline staff to hold, or be working towards, a relevant industry qualification, there has genuinely never been a better time to enrol.
What Employability Professionals Are Saying
Ujjwal Dhakal AIEP, Job Coach at Asuria in Glenorchy, Tasmania, completed the Cert IV earlier this year. He says the program gave him practical skills he could apply immediately, particularly around professional communication, understanding participant needs and building genuine rapport.
“I have noticed that I am able to do my daily tasks in a more professional way, providing more structural support, which has led to improved engagement and confidence in the people I work with.”
The flexibility of the program made it possible for Ujjwal to complete alongside a full-time role without feeling overwhelmed.
Thomas Guthridge AIEP, Employment Consultant at Asuria working within the Workforce Australia contract, was among the very first students to complete the qualification. With nearly three years of industry experience, Thomas describes the program as “outstanding” and says the impact on his day-to-day practice has been significant.
“The Cert IV provided me with practical tools and fresh perspectives to enhance my approach. In particular, it strengthened my ability to connect and engage with diverse cohorts, as well as navigate challenging conversations while always keeping participants’ best interests at the forefront.”
Thomas also valued the group learning format – open discussion, different perspectives from across the industry, and the kind of peer connection that does not always happen in the flow of everyday work.
“I would strongly recommend it. The program offers significant value, both professionally and personally.”
Flexible by Design
We know that time is one of the biggest barriers to professional development for frontline workers.
The Cert IV runs over seven months, with fortnightly 1.5-hour live webinars that are also recorded for those who want to revisit them. Units are delivered in clusters, blending live collaborative learning with e-learning and self-paced study. Prior departmental and internal training can also be recognised, potentially completing remaining units without additional coursework.
“I was able to do this course alongside my work commitments without getting over drained,” Ujjwal said.
What the Program Covers
The qualification comprises 14 units – nine core and five electives – with elective options tailored to your program area.
Core areas include:
- Contracting, action planning and caseload management
- Interpersonal coaching and facilitation skills
- Supporting informed decision making
- Strategies for finding and competing for work
- Working legally and ethically
- Developing and maintaining networks and collaborative partnerships
Electives can be selected to suit staff across all employment programs, including Mental Health, Risk Management, Domestic and Family Violence, Career Guidance, and supporting people with a disability.
The program is facilitated by industry and subject matter experts – people who have worked in this sector and understand what the work looks and feels like on the ground.
Funding and Eligibility
For eligible participants in New South Wales and Tasmania, the qualification is available fee-free through government funding. For those in other states, the course is available as a fee-for-service arrangement, with payment plan options available.
There are no formal entry requirements to enrol.
The Next Cohort Starts Soon
The next intake begins on Thursday 18 June, 9:30am – 11:00am (AEST).
Whether you are a job coach, employment consultant, case manager or team leader – if you are serious about your practice and your place in this sector, this qualification will strengthen both.
